13 Apr BRANDING + MARKETING: YOU’RE NO LONGER ALONE
When you start your business, you’re typically on a bootstrap budget. You’re extra conscious of where you’re spending your dollars and stretching the ones that you have to the best of your ability. I was there and did the same thing. Most start up companies will either create their own branding or have someone close to them create it for them. Is there anything wrong with that? Not necessarily. Done is better than perfect, as long as the brand is portraying the goals and characteristics of a company.
Many of the businesses that come to us started their brand with this same scenario. As your business evolves, so do you and the visual presence you give your company should too. Here are some signs that it may be time to give your branding and marketing a little extra love by bringing on a team:
Doing it yourself – you’ve been handling it all. Making your ads, reordering business cards, making updates on your website, creating brochures, writing text or trying to create a marketing plan. While it’s not your area of expertise, you have some basic skills that allow you to do so. Are you finding it difficult to keep up with this now? Has your schedule changed and the demands of your profession evolved? Do you need to spend more time doing what you do best? Are you constantly feeling behind on all of these tasks?
The identity isn’t who you are – your current marketing materials have gotten you to where you are today. After all, without them, you wouldn’t have been able to have those key leave behinds that led you to the connections you have now. Are you starting to cringe anytime you see your branding or marketing materials? Do you feel like you’ve outgrown that look, feel or color scheme? Have you “grown-up” while your branding still reflects your business three years ago?
You’re stuck – you know that your business identity isn’t aligning with your business goals or personality, but you’re not sure how to make that connection. You have a lot of ideas on how to grow your business and can envision the future, but aren’t able to see the marketing plan or the visual pieces on how you’re going to get there. You feel frustrated because you’re stuck and without those pieces, can’t move forward.
You’ve grown – your business has taken off. You’ve added staff, added locations, are expanding your service or product line or are traveling more for business. You don’t have time to think about the daily marketing of your business but know how important it is. There isn’t enough work to bring someone full time on staff, but there’s enough that it’s too much for you to handle moving forward.
Having a branding and marketing team frees up so much of your time and brings you so many opportunities. At Worx, it’s our favorite thing to do. We love to work with growing companies to relieve some of the burdens ongoing marketing has on owners and their teams. We love to share new, exciting ideas that help grow your business.
