88: Putting Yourself Out There With Sophia Lorena

You have an idea that rolls around in your head, wakes you up in the middle of the night, and makes you so stinking excited that you could literally pee.

But then it stays hidden… but why?

One of the top reasons that women contain their ideas is because the idea of putting yourself out there is scary – it’s vulnerable. It puts you in the line of fire for criticism. But it could also be the one thing that aligns you with your life’s purpose.

Today, we’re talking about getting vulnerable and putting yourself out there and today’s guest has recently embodied this.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Lorena talks about how being furloughed was an incredible awakening
  • The importance of intentionality and sitting in gratitude
  • Stepping into vulnerability
  • Lorena walks us through how she started The Shit Show of My Twenties Podcast
  • Advice to people who have a good idea for a podcast but are fearful of the process and the know-how to operate the technology
  • Successful ways to connect with people and build a community
  • How to embrace the ‘Fuck it, let’s do it’ attitude
  • Creating an own alter ego to step into your higher self
  • The importance of going against what you ‘should’ do and rather do what you want to do
  • What are a lot of women resisting attracting?

Sophia Lorena is a twenty-year-old from California. She is the host of The Shit Show Of My Twenties Podcast. She got furloughed for almost three months this year and decided to move past her limiting beliefs and start the podcast she has always wanted to start.

NOTEWORTHY QUOTES FROM THIS EPISODE

“You always get stuck on that ‘one-day’ thing, and you put all these things in front of it. Like, ‘One day when my story is good enough, one day when I’m perfect, one day when I know enough, one day when I’m experienced enough.’”

“If anyone’s lost their job right now, I think there’s a reason for that. And I think it’s really a wake-up call from the universe to what gifts are you not paying attention to that you need to start paying attention to?”

“… the universe is watching out for me.”

“I don’t really care about my downloads. I care about the conversations and the people that I get to engage with.”

“So I didn’t make it overwhelming for myself, I just started with one little piece at a time.”

“It wasn’t perfect at the beginning. It was really messy at the beginning, but eventually, I learned going along the way.”

“And it’s that’s what is powerful for building a community is allowing other people to see themselves in you.”

“I think it’s always good to do something different.”

“The reason why that name works so well for me is it gave me permission to be messy and gave me permission to not be all put together. And so that’s why I really resonated with that name.”

“Because it’s so much better to do what you want to do versus having resentment towards them later – being like, ‘You made me do this!’”
